"The pressure of the hands causes the springs of life to flow."
- Tokujiro Namikoshi
Massage therapy consists primarily of hands-on manipulation of the soft tissues of the body, specifically, the muscles, connective tissue, tendons, ligaments and joints for the purpose of optimizing health. Swedish massage, myofascial release, visceral manipulation and joint play are some of the techniques available to a Registered Massage Therapist (RMT). While Swedish massage usually uses oil applied directly to the skin, myofascial release, organ work and joint play do not require the application of oil.
